COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES AND EDUCATION

 

The College of Arts and Sciences and Education (CAS-ED) aims to provide varied and holistic educational opportunities for liberal education and for the development of competent graduates imbued with Christian and desirable Filipino values, sense of commitment to service and leadership in the fields of education, information and communication technology, criminology and social work .

The courses or programs under the College of Arts and Sciences are Liberal Arts leading to Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science,  and Bachelor of Science in Social Work.

The College of Education is composed of Bachelor in Elementary Education and Bachelor in Secondary Education.

For administrative purposes, the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Education are fused together.

Objectives of the Liberal Arts Program 
  1. Provide a broad liberal education that will develop the competence of the  students in their chosen field of specialization for gainful employment, or as foundation for further training beyond the baccalaureate degree.
  2. Provide general education courses that would develop critical thinking, communication skills and other aspects of one’s personality.
  3. Instill in the students a strong sense of patriotism and nationalism and concern for the social, political and economic issues of the country.
  4. Inculcate the Christian values promoting integrity in leading or serving the community where they live.
  5. Develop the culture of research and application of technological skills in improving the quality of human life.
Objectives of the Computer Science Program 
  1. Provide students with general education that will equip them with necessary knowledge, skills and attitude facilitative of developing critical thinking, and job competence.
  2. Prepare students to be professionals who are imbued with Christian and desirable Filipino values, and are adequately equipped with appropriate concepts, principles and technical skills to keep pace with the demands of the work environment.
  3. Provide opportunities that would develop analytical and critical thinking among the students for local, national and international competitiveness.
  4. Equip students with sufficient computer skills in the conduct of research that will promote intellectual and socio-economic development.
  5. Instill the values of efficiency, commitment and dedication to service and moral integrity in the community they serve.
 Objectives of the Criminology Program 
  1. Provide students with general education that will equip them with necessary knowledge, skills and attitude facilitative of developing critical thinking, and job competence.
  2. Provide the community with professionally competent and morally upright graduates who can deliver efficient and effective service in the field of Criminology.
  3. Provide instruction and guided experience on the basic knowledge and skills essential to the practice of Criminology
  4. Instill Christian and desirable Filipino values most especially the value of service to humanity.
  5. Facilitate a clear understanding of constitutional guarantees and due process requirements of law in so far as they affect the total administration of justice.
  6. Inculcate higher concepts of citizenry, accountability and leadership and understanding of one’s moral and legal responsibility to his fellowmen, his community and his country.
  7. Encourage research and inquiry on problems and issues related to criminology.
 Objectives of the Social Work Program
  1. Provide students with general education that will equip them with necessary knowledge, skills and attitude facilitative of developing critical thinking, and job competence.
  2. Prepare students to become professionals in social work imbued with Christian and desirable Filipino values.
  3. Equip the students with competencies and skills for social work practice in any setting and for responsible and productive membership in society.
  4. Develop knowledge, skills and competencies in
    1. problem solving and research.
    2. solution formation (matching needs and resources).
    3. documenting the level of adequacy of social services rendered to client systems including the preparation of case records.
    4. documenting the professional intervention rendered and the effect on the client for policy and program development.
  5. Provide opportunities to manifest social responsibility and compassion for humankind6.   Develop gender sensitivity and concern for the environment.
Objectives of the Education Program 
  1. Develop responsible, committed and competent teachers imbued with Christian and desirable Filipino values, deep sense of mission and sufficiently equipped  with general and pedagogical knowledge and skills.
  2. Provide opportunities for the enhancement of the basic and higher level literacy, communication, numeracy, critical thinking, and learning skills.
  3. Develop a culture of research, service and leadership in instruction and in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities
  4. Equip students with technological skills to keep pace with the changes in instructional strategies.
  5. Provide opportunities for the development of Christian values and social responsibility through community immersion or extension services and collaboration with the local church.
  Objectives of the Computer Engineering  Program 
  1. Provide students with general education that will equip them with necessary knowledge, skills and attitude facilitative of developing critical thinking, and job competence.
  2. Equip students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in Computer Engineering.
  3. Inculcate among students the Christian and desirable Filipino values promoting integrity, leadership and service for the sustainable development of the country.
  4. Provide updated facilities and technology to enhance development in their  chosen field of endeavor and interest.
  5. Encourage research and inquiry  on problems  and issues related to engineering.
  6. Provide related learning experiences through exposure to industrial settings.
  7. Provide trainings in abstract and analytical processes, grounded in appropriate concepts and principles, adaptive to a globally competitive work environment.
